This anthology of poems was written by the talented students of Mr. Carlisle's 4th-Grade Class at Woodlawn Elementary School in Alexandria, Virginia, between November 2022 and February 2023.

April 3-7 is Spring Break and National Assistant Principals Week

We are so "lucky" to be Wildcats! Staff Potluck breakfast, all the green, and kindergarteners searching for the Leprechaun! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Angela Surratt, owner of “Not Just Hair” in Alexandria, visited Woodlawn Prek kids. Ms. Prior and Ms. Angela worked together to help the kids "learn to love their hair.”

Second grade students wrapped up the fractions unit in math and science unit on matter. Students created a word problem on paper copy first of Hershey chocolate fractions assignment before using real Hershey candy bars to show fractions. Afterwards, students enjoyed making S'mores with the chocolate.

Woodlawn Book Fair Family Night is on Thursday, March 9th. Students and their families can purchase books from 4:30–7:15p.m.

March 5-10 is National School Social Work Week. Thank you to our amazing social workers!

Thirty Woodlawn Young Scholars attended a field trip at the Qualcomm Thinkabit Lab. Students were able to participate in hands-on engineering activities to learn more about technology. They even got to see their previous Woodlawn Elementary School STEAM teacher, Ms. Ittayem!

Woodlawn Staff spent the afternoon in a meaningful staff development. We are excited to use what we learned. Thank you to all who presented and shared!

Wildcats celebrated Read Across America with a special spirit week sponsored by the Woodlawn Student Council!
