On May 12th, Ms. Annemarie Ochoa Cake read her book, My First Pañuelo, to several Woodlawn classes. My First Pañuelo is a children's story about an American girl who learns about a traditional Peruvian dance called the, Marinera Norteña while visiting her abuelita in Peru. After reading her book aloud, Ms. Ochoa Cake showed students how to make a flying dove using a pañuelo. Students had a wonderful time learning about Peruvian culture! They also enjoyed being able to ask such a talented young author about her writing process, family, and dancing skills!
