Woodlawn Elementary offers several before, during, and after school programs for our students.
Selected 4th, 5th, and 6th-grade students meet weekly to build and program Lego robots.
Safety Patrols at Woodlawn keep other students safe and sound. Being a patrol at Woodlawn Elementary takes dedication, honesty, perseverance, and patience as their purpose of being a patrol is to help teach safety behavior and protect fellow classmates. Students at Woodlawn are eligible to become a safety patrols starting 5th grade.
Student Council Association (SCA)
The SCA at Woodlawn Elementary School is a leadership and service aimed student organization. The SCA is made up of two class representatives in grades 4-6. Students are nominated through collaboration between classroom teachers and school counselors. All students must be in good academic standing and display leadership skills or the potential to develop leadership skills. Students meet bi-monthly to coordinate and implement school-wide community service projects and promote school spirit.
Student Leadership Academy
The Student Leadership Academy (SLA) is a 30-week after-school program offered to nominated 6th grade students who have demonstrated by academic and leadership potential. Students have a chance to take part in academic challenges that connect to real life, build positive relationships, and is planning for a successful transition to middle school and beyond. Students will develop creative and critical thinking skills, resiliency, and personal and academic goals while learning how to create computer codes.
The news crew students are in charge of the daily morning WWES News Show. Students write scripts, create stories, run the equipment and anchor the show daily. Selected sixth graders run the show!
