Ms. Hendrick is a master at building relationships and collaborating with staff. Teachers praise her for recognizing their strengths and involving them in decision making. She isn’t afraid to try new things; for example, a recent schoolwide “Cardboard Day,” where students engineered and designed games from recycled materials, was featured on the Red Apple Channel 21. During her seven-year tenure, Woodlawn, which is largely Spanish-speaking and includes many students with emotional disabilities, has gone from the second lowest performing Title 1 school in FCPS to one of the top performing. “Her presence, visibility, and genuine caring,” says a colleague “are clear when you walk into the school.”

Thank you to Alison Henritzy for all of her hard work with the nomination process by serving as this year's awards liaison.
